The product
WeChangers is a start from Porto with a bold vision.
“An interdependent and sustainable world with no poverty, no inequality, and no injustice, where our economic system prioritizes long-term balance and safety to all. A world where everyone is a change-maker and is actively creating positive change.”
WeChangers first product was an open, global online platform that connects Social Purpose Organizations and Funders – through tools, stories, and data on World Changers. Just as LinkedIn connects individual professionals with recruiters to create job opportunities, WeChangers connects Social Purpose Organizations with Funders to create funding opportunities.
Other projects were the Social Impact Map and the WeChangers Challenges platform.
My Role
At Wechangers my first task was to optimize the product development process. The startup was running on a sort of Kanban where the founders would feed the delivery track with feature requests.
I started by introducing the agile concepts and implementing Scrum. Being responsible for the roadmap, I could also make sure to align the new request with the company’s strategy and epics as long as writing the epics and user stories for the development team. With Scrum, we managed to reduce the release frequency from monthly to biweekly.
Another crucial task was to improve the Q&A manual process. Before every release, the entire team, including the founders, would have to carry out manual tests to guarantee product quality. We cut down the team’s effort on tests by assigning priorities to the test plan based on the changes we implemented and the risks involved.
The Wechangers Challenges platform was an opportunity to develop an online application management platform in partnership with Ashoka. We delivered the concept and development of the new platform in record time and with outstanding quality, using Survey Monkey Apply as the back-end solution, and building our own front-end interface.
The Social Impact Map is Europe’s largest impact investment map. Despite not being directly involved in the project at first, I introduced a web scrapping tool that helped to reduce considerably the manual work required for public data collectio
